The apps

What is a PWA?

Every app below is a Progressive Web App — a website that behaves like an installed app. Open it, add it to your Home Screen from your browser's share/menu button, and it runs full-screen and works offline, just like something from an app store.

Make it yours

These aren't meant to stay exactly as downloaded — treat any of them as a starting point.

Rename it

When you save an app to your Home Screen, you can rename it to whatever you want. It's your copy now.

Make it look like yours

Customize the look with themes and your own headline, right from Settings.

Rebuild it

Fork the repo on GitHub and change whatever you want — the color scheme, the features, how it works.

How this works

A few things that stay true across every app in this library.

Local storage

Everything you enter — notes, lists, numbers — stays in your browser, on your device. Nothing is sent to a server, because there isn't one. (A few apps have opt-in exceptions — see BYOC below, and each app's own card.)

No accounts

No sign-up, no login, no email address collected. You open the app and it's already yours.

Completely free

No ads, no data collection, no premium tier hiding the features you actually need. Free means free.

Installable (PWA)

Add any app to your home screen and it behaves like a native app — works offline, opens instantly, no app store required.

Open source

Most of these apps' code is public and licensed AGPL-3.0 — free to copy, modify, and run, but any version you distribute or host has to stay open source too. Medical Tracker's source is closed for security reasons (see its card for why), and Emoji Chat's code is public but not yet under a formal license.

Back up & import

Each app lets you export your data as a plain file, and import it again on a new device or after clearing your browser.

Bring your own cloud (BYOC)

My Closet, My Bookshelf, and My Index offer an optional Cloud Sync feature, tagged "BYOC" on their cards — not our cloud, yours. You connect your own free Supabase project (a few taps, no code required), and from then on your data backs up there, gated behind a passphrase only your own devices know. Skip it and the app stays exactly as local-only as any other in this library; turn it on and you're syncing between your own devices through infrastructure you control, not a server we run.

Worth knowing

Local storage means your data lives on your device, not in someone else's cloud — which also means backing it up is on you. There's no support line, no account recovery, no "we've got your data" safety net. That's the trade: real ownership, real responsibility. Export your data every so often, especially before switching devices or clearing site data.

Hi, I'm Elin

I'm a Swedish tech writer, critic, communicator, and designer. With the assistance of Claude Code I've made these apps for myself, my friends, and you (if you want!). I've used free accounts on Vercel and Supabase to keep the whole system as close to completely free as possible. And since they didn't cost me much in either time nor money to make — it's easy for me to share them with you for free!

We don't have to keep paying for simple apps — neither through data, looking at ads, monthly subscriptions or all of the above. I've consciously taken a step away from the big tech companies, social media, and the doom-scrolling feeds. Now I try to return to the joys of "the old internet," which was there all along! DIY, open source, share your ideas, peer-to-peer — let's make it great again.
